All About University
Named for the University of Portland, a small private college tucked into the heart of Mock Crest, University Park lends a youthful vibe to this quaint, traditional Portland neighborhood. Although many students live in the area, it's mellow and safe, with straight open streets that attract cyclists and families with children.
Unlike many other areas in North Portland, there are few grand or showy homes here; the homes are modest, comfortable, and simple, in a neat neighborhood that is close to downtown Portland and nearby Cathedral Park, St. Johns, and Linnton.
Walking through University Park on a Saturday evening, the sound of a bicycle bell or a singing towhee may ripple the neighborhood's calm; later, children's voices, or a neighbor playing the violin. A quiet pocket in an exciting, up-and-coming area of Portland, University Park is a peaceful place to call home.
