Brunch Spots in North Portland

Do you love brunch like we do? You’ll want to check out some of these delightful brunch spots in North Portland. We can’t think of a better way to enjoy a lazy Saturday or Sunday with friends or family.

Bad Habit Room

5433 N. Michigan Avenue; 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays

You have to check out Bad Habit Room, a hidden gem in North Portland. The weekend brunch is held in their speakeasy-style dining room.

Bad Habit Room has a wide selection of delicious drinks, and you have to check out the house-made Pop Tarts. Other brunch selections include homemade granola, huevos rancheros, and biscuits and gravy. See Bad Habit Room’s full brunch menu here.

Ex Novo Brewing

2326 N. Flint Avenue; 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays

Ex Novo Brewing’s food is rooted in quality, local ingredients. This means that the cooking changes along with the seasons of the year. Ex Novo is also a nonprofit brewery that donates its profits to charitable organizations around the world—just one of the reasons this is one of the best brunch spots in North Portland.

Broker Nikki del Giudice highly recommends the Beet Cured Rockfish Lox, which comes with a grilled everything bagel, caper and dill cream cheese, avocado, pickled red onion, and charred lemon. Other offerings include breakfast pizza, maple donut French toast, and beer-battered waffles. Check out the full menu here.

John Street Café

8338 N. Lombard Street; 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays

John Street Café doesn’t technically have a brunch, but they serve their breakfast late on the weekends (and actually do the same Wednesday through Friday, if you want a good option during the week). Make sure to enjoy eating on the patio during nice weather!

Menu highlights include the delicious fresh fruit bowl with yogurt sauce, the brie scramble with eggs and chives, and any of their delicious omelets. Nikki (can you tell that she’s our brunch guru?) recommends the green chili omelet, full of green chilies, spinach, sour cream, black beans, salsa, and Monterey Jack cheese. Oh, and if you want gigantic pancakes, this is the place.

Vagabond

4828 N. Lombard Street; 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays

Vagabond is really close to our office, so give them a try! Vagabond’s chef, Christian Mikkelsen, has traveled the globe. He uses the techniques, tastes, and recipes he’s found to create brand-new combinations.

Brunch includes spätzle with house smoked meats, chilaquiles with a roasted poblano sauce, Thai smoked chicken hash, and fish tacos. See the rest of Vagabond’s delicious menu here.

Broder Nord

2240 N. Interstate Avenue, Suite 160; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Daily

Broder Nord is our favorite place for a delicious Swedish brunch! It’s a homey little café that you’re going to want to go to again and again.

You absolutely have to try the æblskiver! We also hear that the hash, filled with potatoes, bell peppers, onions, and topped with eggs and pickled beets is amazing. Fair warning: it’s always busy (which means that you know it’s good).

Your Inn Tavern

7004 N. Catlin Avenue; 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays

Your Inn Tavern is one of St. Johns best casual bars. Walk in the bar and you’ll instantly feel like you’re friends with everyone around. It’s a low-key and friendly place to hang out and enjoy some delicious food.

The menu is full of classics like chicken fried steak and eggs, corned beef hash, and scramblers. And don’t forget to try one of their amazing Bloody Marys!

Tasty N Sons

3808 N. Williams Street, Suite C; 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Daily

Tasty N Sons is a neighborhood restaurant that serves new American diner cuisine. The large menu includes creative dishes that you’re unlikely to get anywhere else. And Tasty N Sons just happens to be one of Portland’s go-to brunch spots.

The extensive brunch menu includes small offerings, like a chocolate potato doughnut, sweet biscuits with compote and whipped cream, and a cast iron frittata. It also includes heartier options like Burmese pork stew, pork cutlets with egg and spinach, and griddled rum cake. See the full menu here.

Radar

3951 N. Mississippi Avenue; 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays

Radar is a relaxed little spot with a strong maritime influence. Enjoy the open kitchen that serves up dishes with a strong Scandinavian vibe. The bar also has a wide selection of unique drinks to enjoy with your food.

Brunch options include classic bangers and mash, baked grapefruit with streusel topping, and scotch eggs. See all your brunch options here.

Gravy

3957 N. Mississippi Avenue; breakfast served daily from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Gravy has some of the best breakfast options in town. Their made-from-scratch food never disappoints. And they don’t take reservations, so make sure to get there early!

People love the challah French toast, corned beef hash, oatmeal brûlée, and fresh-baked biscuits with gravy. You can get just about any kind of breakfast you want at Gravy! Check out the full menu here.
