Whitney works as a principal broker at Farrell Realty. He’s also proud to be one of Farrell Realty’s owners. As someone who knows and loves the North Portland area, Whitney can tell you just about anything you want to know. Here’s a little bit more about Whitney.
Whitney Petersen was an executive chef and worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years. He worked in a wide variety of places, including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and of course, Portland. So how did he get into real estate?
Whitney first purchased a home from Farrell Realty around twenty years ago. He had such a good experience that he purchased two more homes from the same agent. He moved back to Portland for good in 2003. He’d just finished an accounting degree, but he wasn’t looking for a job yet. He was in the process of selling one of the properties he’d purchased, though, and the agent he was working with asked if he’d ever thought of selling real estate. It made sense for him to start his journey out with Farrell because he’d had such a positive experience. He went to the office, talked to Mark, and the rest is history.
Whitney has been one of Farrell’s top-producing brokers, as well as a top broker in North Portland. After about four years at Farrell, he was offered a partnership in the company. He gladly accepted the offer, and he thoroughly enjoys helping run the business. He likes being involved in day-to-day decisions and really loves the role he plays in making Farrell Realty successful. Although he enjoys helping all of his clients, he particularly likes working with those who are interested in investment properties.
When he’s not working, Whitney enjoys home, yard, and garden projects (no surprise there). He also collects an eclectic mix of art, including paintings, sculptures, and anything else that catches his eye. He loves dogs, and he also loves fireworks (and even considered becoming a pyro-technician at one point in his life). He also dabbles in photography and will be starting photography classes next week. As an interesting side note, he also used to spend a lot of time scuba and cave diving, although he doesn’t do that much anymore.
Whitney has had a home in North Portland for over twenty-five years, and it’s become his home in every sense of the word. He especially loves the community atmosphere in North Portland and how easy it is to get from place to place. He is particularly fond of St. Johns—he likes to go hang out at Cathedral Park, so maybe you’ll see him there sometime.
