North Portland Pizza

What’s not to love about pizza? It’s a comforting childhood classic and an almost-universal crowd pleaser. But just like you, pizza has evolved and is all grown-up! With artisan flavors and vegan and gluten-free options, pizza really is for everyone. We’ve got you covered with our round-up of the best North Portland pizza.

Pizza Creature

7316 N Lombard St; 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays

Pizza Creature is a newly opened pizza cart featuring a hand-built, wood-burning pizza oven. The vibe is friendly and relaxed, and the area has a lot of other tasty drink and food options.

They pride themselves on their hand-crafted sourdough crust and homemade cashew cheese (it’s vegan). They also have a super-tasty vegan pepperoni! How awesome is that? Their menu varies but includes creative toppings like summer squash and asparagus. This is definitely some of the most unique North Portland pizza. Check them out on Facebook or Instagram to see what’s on the daily menu.

Signal Station Pizza

8302 N. Lombard Street; Mondays through Thursdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Sundays 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Signal Station Pizza is one of those places that screams mom and pop in the best of ways. The husband-and-wife owners love being active in the community and their business reflects this. They have a pizza place that’s just right for small team parties and birthdays. This is definitely a family friendly atmosphere.

Their menu is fairly simple, and their pizza only comes in three sizes: by the slice, personal (10 inches), and large (16 inches). Give the University a try—it’s loaded with   sun-dried tomatoes, olive oil pesto, mozzarella, and provolone cheeses, Roma tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, and goat cheese. Calzones, salads, and subs are also on the menu. Their specialty pizzas will make your mouth water. Check those out here, or hop on their Facebook page here.

Tom’s Pizza and Sports Bar

2630 N. Lombard Street; Sundays through Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursdays 10a.m. to 12 a.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Tom’s Pizza is the place to go if you’re looking to watch the game and have a great time with your buddies. The Lombard location is a 21-and-over bar with over 20 beers on tap and even the option for a personal beer dispenser. With plenty of big screens throughout, you’re sure to find the perfect spot to watch the game.

Now that we’ve got our big screens and beers, let’s get to the pizza! Tom’s prides themselves on their fresh crust that’s made in a 1956 mixer that came out of the galley of a US Navy ship—pretty cool. True to classic sports bar appetizers, Tom’s serves up the Buffalo Bill Pizza. It’s loaded with chicken breast and coated with wing sauce and chunks of blue cheese. Of course, they wouldn’t forget the celery—that’s piled on top after the pie comes out of the oven.

If you’re looking for a party atmosphere with great pizza, Tom’s is the place to be. Their full menu can be found here. Keep up to date with their Facebook and Instagram accounts.

The atmosphere is refined and features light fixtures made by local artists.

Fino is another great option if you’re looking for vegan- and gluten-free pizza. While they do not offer vegan cheese, their red pepper-cashew spread is satisfying and creates a delicious base.

Fino offers a complete dinner menu with pastas like shrimp fettuccini Romanesco. They also have classic sandwiches like eggplant parmesan, salads with luscious dressings like spicy Thai, and classic appetizers, including garlic knots. See their menu here. They host yoga and beer nights, kids’ cooking classes, and local musicians. Located in the center of downtown St. Johns, surrounded by other unique shops and eateries, it’s worth dropping in.

Start off your meal with one of their specialty drinks like a raspberry lavender lemonade. Their pizzas offer some unique, delicious combinations. The Mother-in-Law features blue cheese, caramelized onions, and bacon—yum! All of their pizzas are made to order and simply come in one size—13 inches. For a few dollars more, you can request gluten-free crust. Oh, how we love options!

The desserts are also amazing and feature wood-fired baked goods like cinnamon rolls and chocolate chunk cookies. Check out the whole menu here. See what’s new on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
